I have a question, for anyone out there who's listening and is in the mood for a little thought.

What is your home? How do you define it?

[The PCD shows his little apartment is now all but empty. There's a small packed box, with foraged food, a few blankets and clothes. The entire contents of his life here fit into one little pile- Emily rests merrily on top. Her dress is becoming frayed, stained with dust. He'll have to take care of that soon.]

To what extent have you made this place your home, and if you have, what has helped you make that transition? If you have not, what holds you back?

I'll have lived here a year this Sunday.

For me, my home is where my friends are.

Happy birthday! Kinda.

Are your friends here?

And- thank you.

Not from home. But I've made some new ones. I just have to keep hoping that my friends from home will show up.

The people I've met. The friends I've made.

Even when they go the way of Fletcher?

What if your friends live in two different places?

Feel free not to answer.

Then i'd have two homes.

Anywhere you live is a 'home', isn't it?

Not at all, doctor.

Why is it, then?

You think so?

From: [identity profile] law-of-reason.livejournal.com
How so? It's just a shorthand for saying 'where I currently reside'.

Why would someone stop being your friend, just because they've left?

Well, you don't know where they go.

I do. It's limiting, to conceptualize home as a singular unit.
