[Break is sitting on his windowsill, blissfully unaware of the fact that the PCD has turned on where it's sitting on his desk. He reaches one of his legs out, barefoot, stretching so it makes it past the shelter of the awning and out into the raindrops falling outside.

Amusing himself like this for a few seconds longer, he keeps a tight hold on the frame for balance.

The whirr of the PCD eventually alters him to the fact that it's running. He glances over his shoulder sharply.]

... honestly, if it were me-

I wouldn't be content that way, and if I had your experience -- you've taken the same risk before. It wouldn't be endangering anyone else, and the worst that could happen is death, and pain. You're already in pain, and death's not permanent here.

[A shaky breath.]

... a friend of mine came back. She'd been here for almost a year, and she disappeared... but she came back just a little while ago.

When we were visiting once, back home, she promised me that when I got my body back, the first thing she would do is bake me an apple pie.

[Emily squawks, angrily. He shushes her.]

[She's usually good for that reaction. Hearing it is gratifying- Break smirks.]

The only person who has ever been here from my world was Oz.

[Al huffs, he doesn't even.]

What's Oz like?

Young. Altruistic. Selfish. Stupid. Insightful beyond his years. Possessed, twice over. Ultimately quite kind, and really truly cruel.

Contradictory.

Those are the best kinds of people.
