[Break is sitting on his windowsill, blissfully unaware of the fact that the PCD has turned on where it's sitting on his desk. He reaches one of his legs out, barefoot, stretching so it makes it past the shelter of the awning and out into the raindrops falling outside.

Amusing himself like this for a few seconds longer, he keeps a tight hold on the frame for balance.

The whirr of the PCD eventually alters him to the fact that it's running. He glances over his shoulder sharply.]

You aren't in any trouble.

A m-man named Dora Folk told me a lot of things I didn't understand about... angels, and crosses, I don't know. But he told me to ask Yuca about M-methuselah?

Oh, little bit- Dora Folk is a very nasty man.

I'm going to come visit you, all right? Send me your coordinates, we should talk about all this in person.

Okay. [Rain presses the button for the coordinates.]

[Break arrives shortly, already worried. And who can blame him?]

[And Rain's just sort of curled around himself, taking up as little space as possible and chin resting on his knees, waiting quietly for Break.] He... he's a bad man?

Break!

[Emily shrieks]

Someone looks like they need a hug!

I suppose so, Emily. But I think we'd better ask him, first, don't you? And maybe answer his questions?

Hugs first, questions later!

[Rain stares at Break and Emily quietly for a very long moment before eventually nodding his head and unfolding his arms, holding them open. Yes, some sort of physical assurance would go quite a ways right now.]

[And break gives very good hugs. He folds his arms tight around Rain, and draws him in close.]

Before you got here, little bit, Yuca used to keep a greenhouse. It had all the most beautiful plants in the world inside it. He was all alone and sad, so he poured all his love and devotion into those flowers.

Dora Folk smashed into it and broke it, uprooted the plants and tossed them asunder, just to hurt his heart.

W-w-why...?

Because he is nasty and cruel, and has never loved anyone the way Yuca loves you.

[Another pause.] ... he does love me, doesn't he? I don't know why but he does.

[And Rain knows that there's something off about it, but he doesn't know what, and he's not even entirely sure that he wants to find out.]

That's what Methuselah is.

[Hugging him a little tighter.]

In the original story, he was the oldest man ever to have lived. In your world, he's you- Yuca's oldest, best friend, who he would do anything for.

[Going with the hug.]

He... he said I was immortal.

You will have the chance to become so, yes. You do in at least one world.

But then. But then all of my friends would die before me, wouldn't they?

[Because that is always going to be the first thing Rain thinks about, at any age.]

That's the problem.

[He tells him, quietly.]

That's why Yuca is so sad. He's older than many of the stars in the nighttime sky. He's scared to tell you the truth, in case you hate him for what happens between him and Methuselah. He's very, very alone, and Dora Folk wants to keep it that way.

I... I wouldn't leave Yuca. He gave me a h-home. He loves me. I w-wouldn't - wouldn't leave him.

Then next time Dora Folk tries to talk to you, tell him he's a bad man, turn off the PCD feed, and go find Yuca or I right away.

[Tousling his hair.]

You can choose to talk to Yuca about this if you'd like. It'll frighten him, but it might do him some good. Or you can carry on, knowing that he has lived for an eternity alone, but that you're the sun in his day, the moon in his night, and the stars in his sky.

[Rain nods.] Yes, I will mister Break. Promise!

[He still looks somewhat amazed that he could possibly be all that to one person, but he's maybe just beginning to start to believe everyone that keeps telling him that.]

I don't... I don't want to frighten Yuca.

Then maybe save that for when you're a little older.

You're at an orphanage, isn't that right, Rain?

[Another nod.] Yes.

What are the children like, when they first arrive?

It... it depends. On how old they are. And whether they knew their parents.

Freyas was upset. She hit me.

People who are very sad and very lonely sometimes do lash out like that.
