Near abouts the wall. They tend to roam inside as well as outside of it.

To leave them in some places as we walk on, check on them when we walk back. Very good idea!

We'll put a cookie under it, and balance it on a stick, attached to a string!

We could tie the other end of the string to the cook so that when it's disturbed the stick is tugged enough to send the bucket falling.
