It wouldn't have been healthy. He's not as young as he looks, but he's still young in some ways.

[Al shakes his head, smiling, and sits back down with sandwiches, putting Break's on a plate in front of him.]

No, no- that wasn't damaging at all.

[Al reaches up to unclip the clasp at his throat and undo his vest, pulling it open and pulling his shirt aside so Break can see the full extent of it. He shrugs off his vest, leaving him in only a tank top, and holds out both arms, wrists turned up.

The insides of both forearms are the same way, both from knives and claws as well as teeth. Al shrugs the vest back on.]

We were never very good for each other, to say the least.

What happened?

He was a vampire. Very old, very cynical. He didn't often smile, but sometimes I could get one out of him. I loved his laugh too, but that didn't happen too often. All of these cuts and bites were voluntary, but some were emergencies.

[Al leans back in his chair.]

He could read minds. It wasn't a voluntary thing most of the time. Understandably he had a hard time trusting anyone, including me. I do believe he honestly tried, to give credit where it's due. But we had nothing in common, and he was very jealous and possessive.

And... you know how I am with people I care about.

[Al ducks his head, remembering to eat something. As light as he tries to make it, it still bothers him visibly to talk about Kamui. He didn't bother showing Break the worst of the scars, the ones that hadn't been voluntary.]

It's in the past. I'm not worried about any of that happening again.

[A small smile. He lifts his face, but keeps his eyes closed through it.]

[Al laughs.]

[Al laughs, flushing a dark pink.]
