I really don't remember. But an educated guess might be that you weren't boring, that I wanted to see that place and knew you were the best chance I had of surviving it, and that just maybe I liked the idea of your being in my debt.
I wouldn't have been fool enough to think it would last, or that it would be worth much, but getting a tiny little edge of you under my thumb? For saving beloved brother? A whisper of a favour owed?
