[voice] an idle curiosity in the middle of the night

If you could make the choice to lose one memory, what would it be?

If you don't feel like sharing the details of that moment, answer this instead- if you were really given the choice, not hypothetically in the future, but today, with all the realities and consequences you face, would you let the moment go? And would it change you?

How much of our darkest moments make us what we are?

It feels like it ought to be easier.

... maybe. But as terrible and painful as the memories are, no matter how much they've wounded us... those moments of pain are what give us our conviction to never let those things happen again.

And that's why we fight so hard. And other people can be protected through the strength that we earned through pain.

What if the pain has us start making the wrong choices?

Then it's up to us to become stronger than the pain, or to accept to consequences of our own actions.

Isn't that sort of thing easier said than done?

Nothing of worth is ever easy.

I think I have to go think about this, Alphonse.

[Silence for a time.]

That's probably best.
