His fascination may not really have an excuse. He may justify it with a machination or two, but I think he just likes the fact that Lucifer is shiny, and when he was so week couldn't help himself trying to push.

[Castiel considers this a moment.]

That would explain why he is seemingly so disorganized and unfocused, if he is not actively working toward a goal.

Which isn't to say he doesn't have ill intentions. I trust him as far as I could throw him.

As do I. Do you know if he's taken such interest in anyone besides Lucifer?

I haven't been following him enough to know, in all honesty.

He seemed interested in the new arrival from my world, Crowley, though I'm not certain if it was about him in specific or simply how he related to myself and Lucifer.

[A pause.]

You may desire to demonproof the house, if you have not.

I haven't. Perhaps that's an activity we can do this afternoon?

[Since he has him here.]

Alright. It is simple enough.

[A pause.]

Crowley and Lucifer do not get along. It's wise to keep them away from each other if at all possible.

[He doesn't want either of them getting hurt, but he knows they if they end up in the same room together only one of them will probably walk out of it.]

I want to meet Crowley, now. I need to keep a better eye on the arrivals.

[Grin stretching.]

He is... Unique.

[He and Castiel had been sort-of friends, and might still be. He isn't sure.]

Is that a euphemism for 'unpalatable?'

Not... Precisely. He and I were allies for over two years. It is simply difficult to describe him.

I'll form my own impressions, then.

Why doesn't Luce like him?

They were on opposite sides, during the Apocalypse. Crowley was essential in the stopping of it, and now rules Hell. He sees Lucifer as a threat, and Lucifer likely sees him a traitor.

[Which technically he is, but who from their world isn't anyway.]

And we know how Lucifer does with treachery.

Precisely. And Crowley's pride will not allow him to work alongside Lucifer in any manner.

[So it's a matter of when they'll clash, not if.]

You've given me a great deal to consider.

[Amused.]

I felt you should know the situation, considering Lucifer's current state.

[In other words, not able to protect himself. And Castiel is pretty sure Lucifer won't adapt to being mortal very well.]

I would prefer if you attempt not to seriously harm Crowley unless absolutely necessary, however.

I don't pick fights.

[He promises, reassuringly.

Fights pick him.]

Crowley does, on occasion. Lucifer does often.

[And he knows Break will likely try to protect Lucifer if it does come to a fight between the demon and the angel.]

Keep an eye out on Loki, I'll keep one on Crowley. I promise.
