... I don't like the idea of a police force anyway. Here, there are just too many things that could go wrong with it.

Then they're going to have an awful time on their hands if half of their police force all disappears in one day. I can almost guarantee that things are already out of balance.

Well, a police force is expected to serve and protect. When someone extremely powerful starts doing bad in the city, they'll need someone of equal power that's good in order to counterbalance that. Otherwise, it would either be like sending in unarmed hobbits to defeat Smaug, or people outside the police force would take care of it and render the police force useless anyway.

That's a good point, and one I hadn't thought of. My concern was that we'd develop two tiers of citizen; punishable and not. That the normal people would be arrested for our crimes, while the wild ones carried on with impunity.

That's very true. It also depends on exactly who is on the police force, but it will be more difficult to apprehend those with special abilities.

I personally don't think it would do any good. We've been handling threats ourselves for the last couple of years.

On the contrary, it's more a matter of whether or not a police force would do any better. Considering the possibilities of everyone having their freedoms muted, as well.

I'm just... very unsure about the whole idea. It just seems like a means of organizing something that no one really wants organized.

But that will happen regardless of whether or not there is a police force. In my world, and I'm sure in yours as well, there are homicide departments for a reason.
